Review by David J. Wheatley "Maxim" : Exceptional Sound for Price 5 Star

I am an eighteen year old at highschool and got these headphones yesterday at Circuit City for $75.00 (w/ tax etc) I listen primarily to techno music but throw in everything else from Cream, to some Broadway songs, to Old School rap, the headphones will deal with most anything with pretty good sound. The bass is something incredible, you can't really understand what it produces until you try them out properly, it is amazing, they can get very low frequency, and very low notes and give a very powerful vibration which really does sound like a high end subwoofer system in a car or home theater. The bass adjuster is useful and you will most likely want to adjust it between songs, obviously this is easy, if you listen to the same genre constantly you can find a perfect setting, or just put it at 100 percent to show what they can do! The first night I got these I listened to the album "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse, and they couldn't have delivered better sound for the album. Now I give you easy pros and cons cons -fairly tight fit (good for blocking out ambient noise, but you can't wear them round your neck comfortably) -Folding (This is very usful for travel however if you are wearing them about and take them off repeatedly it can get annoying) -Leather pads (these are very comfortable and manage to block out sound, however after awhile they can get pretty hot) pros -Bass adjuster (tune perfectly for different songs) -Cord (perfect length, its not too long, but not too short) -Obviously: The Bass! (if you listen to bass heavy music you won't find better headphones for the price) -Stylish design ( I often wear a suit, or a sport coat, so the pinstripes on the side look good with it) -Accesories (allow you to hook them up to anything) -Lightweight (won't feel unnatural and heavy on your head These phones are certainly worth buying if you listen to bass heavy music, the bad reviews must be coming from those who are either not adjusting them, or listen to music that doesn't capitalize on the bass qualities. I also own the Bose In-Ear earphones, and the Bose on-ear quiet comforts, these can compare, I use the on-ears for the noise cancelling, the in-ears for running and light-weight traveling, now I have the Skullcandys for techno and rap. So now its your choice

Review by W. K. Francisco "DJ Sober" : DOING IT 5 Star

First of all Skullcandy provides a lifetime warranty on all there heaadphones so when you read other reviews about durabilty DONT EVEN TRIP cause they got your back. But real talk these knock hard and if your like me and love bass bass and more bass you have found the right headphones. Sure you need a battery for the amplifier but rechargable batteries are not a bad invesment. I use them for my Zune and when vol. is only 12 i cant here anything besides music YEEEE! Very comfortable and not heavy at all. Amazing for hip hop and R&B and i listen to a little bit of rock and sounds pretty solid for that to. I dont think $60-$70 is to much to ask for especially with awesome designs they provide, much better than paying 150-$300 for a pair of headphones that make you look like your about to go to outer space hahahah. I recomend these to everyone.

Review by Kenneth J. Parmeley : Great headphones but they had their disadvantages. 4 Star

These headphones a great if you crave bass. These headphones are awesome for watching movies when you don't want to bother anyone else. When you put them on you'll notice they do a considerably good job with noise cancelling and when you watch a movie or play a game they make you feel like you have a home theater system on your head. As for music they are best for hip hop/rap, electro, and any music with heavy bass below 50Hz.Although they are not so good for rock, heavy metal or any other type of rock because there is a gap in the frequency response of the main driver and the sub woofer where most of the bass in rock music is. I was disappointed by that. When I first saw these I was instantly in love with them and I didn't bother to read about them or let the reviews change my point of view, and if your like me this is probably the case. If you are gonna get them you'll have the mess with the equalizer of your audio source to make them sound how you want them to. They seem like a really cool thing, o look these have sub woofers in them how awesome is that. But keep in mind they are "vibrating" sub woofers and do NOT perform like a normal sub woofer and like I said lack bass in the 50Hz to 200Hz region. That's about where a lot of a bass guitars sound and where most of your vibration occurs. So if you do get these don't expect then to be act like miniature sub woofers cause they are meant to shake more than they are to reproduce sound. And also they headband is not exactly as what is pictured, it has a soft foam piece where the top of your head meets the headband, the new headband is more comfortable than what is pictured and is very strong and astonishingly light for it's size. These are a great set of headphones. They are very good at keeping outside noise out and youe noise in. Therefore you can be blasting these suckers and the person beside you will hardly even notice. The SQ is great and easily compares to some of the more recognized headphones companies such as Sennheiser which retail for around $100 - $150. Overall they are one of the best headphones you can ge for the price even if you aren't looking for the sub woofer, they offer superior noise canceling abilities, great SQ , are very light, and have a sub woofer in them. There isn't much more more you can ask for for $40-$50. If you don't mind the small region of bass between 50-200Hz that isn't as strong as with a conventional set of headphones then I would highly recommend these. And if you are worried about what I said then you should go and heck out Evergreen Technologies RumbleFX Force Feedback headphones, they are the best you can get with subwoofers in them, very loud, 40mm drivers, and light, although they don't offer as much noise canceling as the SkullCrushers do, if you do want to get a pair a the EverGreen Technologies you'll have to look around hard because rumor has it they are stopping production on the universal pair but if you don't need the universal pair just grab the AudioFX version with an USB connection instead. They are definitely worth it. Or if you prefer something smaller try the in ear Pelican Earsubs, only $20-$30 and have basically all the characteristics of the skullCrushers in a earbud form. There are also a new set of earbuds coming out soon caled the bass freguency V-Moda earbuds.

Review by Syniks : Not a bad but over all 4 Star

I mean its all about what you want. If you are into lots of base from generas such as Hip hop, electronica, Dubstep ect. its probably right for you. Sometimes Your ears get tired of the bass and u turn it off, then it sounds like some cheap old headphone. But the bass really does alot for it. I wore it for about 3 hours once my ears were hurting the rest of the day. but i mean if u have strong ears then go for it.

Review by DT : Great Bass, Mediocre Mids & Highs 3 Star

Based on the reviews on here, when I bought the Skullcrushers, I was hoping the sound would be phenomenal. Sadly, that's only half-true. The bass coming from the "subwoofer" speaker was very impressive and feels like you placed your head inside a sub box. On the other hand, the regular speaker that handles the rest of the sound is lackluster. The sound was crisp and clean and I heard details I've never heard before in the song, but it's very underpowered and non-responsive when compared to the sub. You can adjust the sub volume town so that the mids and highs are at the same level as the sub, but then you can barely hear the bass. If these were for $30-40, I'd say they were a decent (but not the best) purchase. But at a retail price of $70, they aren't worth it.

Review by Bwave : Just what I expected 5 Star

I am currently writing this review while wearing the headphones at the moment and can say they are quite comfortable and do an excellent job not only keeping out external sound from creeping in but also keep your ears warm. Yes you do have to be aware of this when listening to music on a sunny day outside as they can heat up; but nothing I found too uncomfortable. the only other thing I find wrong (well not exactly it still can be solved) was the cord that extended out from the bass amplified subwoofer was a bit too short (about a foot and a quarter) for my taste. every time I try to pull my droid X out of my pocket to change songs it became a bit of a tug-of-war to keep from unclipping the subwoofer piece. Though I suppose I might eventually remedy the problem with a 2 foot extension cord if I can find one. My last headphones I use to use daily I think were from my last Jet Blue flight so this is a big step up I wasn't much of a connoisseur of music products when it came down to it so anything was a plus, these headphones just happened to steal my cake and eat it too) for me. In other reviews I have seen complaints of what looks and feels like shoddy plastic that makes up the headband and components from other internet reviews but from all my average adventures with them they seem to hold up well and while I probably wouldn't spend as much as they were initially when first came out long ago the price I paid now (came out to about 40) was perfect for how good they look and sound. My final note is on the bass and wow does it make a difference when listening to music at least from a portable listening experience compared to anything else I ever wore on my head or in my ear. Some I have seen complain that it sounds weird but I believe that may be a case of the bass dial turned up too high. You just have to remember that a little bass goes a long way for a song and sometimes you may have to tweak it a bit if it sounds too far off from how it might sound. One strange thing though is that I can sometimes hear this slight noise (like water dripping out of a gutter) when the bass switch is turned on and no sound is playing out of whatever I have it plugged into. It goes away after any sound is pumped through, and I have to note that it doesn't bother me at all but I feel inclined and curious as an engineer to wonder what causes it. Overall I give 5 stars for being just perfect for the price and thus can do no wrong by me. I hope the 2 cents I added to massive ocean of reviews is a bit different from all I saw when doing my own cautious research.

Review by G. Argov : Best Headphones EVER 5 Star

Let me start off this review by saying the Skullcrushers are honestly the best pair of headphones I've ever owned, even when compared to other headphones that cost over twice as much... My last pair of headphones got destroyed, and I was looking for an affordable replacement that was circumaural (over-the-ear), offered strong bass, had a cool design, and ideally, sound-canceling. While these headphones don't offer active sound-canceling, most outside noises get noticeably reduced, especially when you're busy enjoying the incredible bass performance! I spent a lot of time researching different headphone models before getting these, and read mixed reviews. I've come to realize, however, a lot of reviewers who shoot down quality headphones such as these tend to be audiophiles who focus on incredibly minute details that most listeners would never notice. Other times they say that one would be better off buying a more expensive pair of headphones...unfortunately, not everyone has the flexibility to choose between $60 Skullcrushers or a $300 pair of Bose Headphones! I also own the SkullCandy Double Agent wireless headphones, and though I paid considerably more for those, I think these offer considerably better bass performance and overall sound quality. I have many different genres of music on my MP3 player, and love the handy bass-adjuster switch that allows me to toggle just how much bass is delivered. If you're in the market for powerful headphones with great bass, and you don't want to spend too much, the Skullcrushers are for you!

Review by E. Zeller "E zella" : Damn good headphones for the price 4 Star

I've been reading the reviews on these and I've done my homework. The sound quality is pretty decent. Nothing unreal, but they sure do really kick some deep bass. I would say they are worth the money.

Review by Joshua : Love these 5 Star

I've have had a pair of these for over a year now, and i abuse them yet they still work, so to the other person try them before you talk bad about them!!!
