The JBL Creature III Self-Powered Multimedia satellite and subwoofer system JBL Creature III Self-Powered Multimedia satellite and subwoofer systemis simply the best computer accessories investment I have ever made. The sound this system produces is totally unmatched for a computer speaker system. When I finally made the change to MP4 and began the arduous task of converting my audio collection of 500+ CD's to MP4's, I thought that my next task would be to go out shopping for a new home stereo and a MP3 player that could hook up to it so I could utilize the fruits of my labor. Well let's say that I am only in the market now for a MP3 player for remote use but am no longer planning on purchasing a new home stereo for playing my audio files, because I found the JBL Creatures. Hooking these up to my home computer has turned my home computer into a phenominally sounding home stereo in my living room. Everyone that has stopped by my home has their jaws uncontrollably drop to the floor in awe when they discover all of those great sounds are coming from this unique and stylish little set of computer speakers. You have to believe me, this is the best computer speaker system ever invented. I recommend that the JBL Creatures be your next computer accessory investment...or for that matter...your next home audio investment. I work online, so I spend 30 hours a day on a computer, usually listening to music. I have two other surround sound systems in the house (a Denon 1910 receiver with JBL cs6100bg speakers on a 56 inch Samsung plasma and an Onkyo 7.1 ht-s6200 on a Mac Pro with a 48 inch Sony LCD for a monitor) but I needed something with a small footprint for my second desk to plug into a MacBook Pro with a 32 inch Panasonic LCD for a monitor. These are perfect. Simply perfect. Small, simple, clean and cool looking with crystal clear sound, and so incredibly light that I wondered if there was some mistake when FedEx dropped it off. I'm not a bass guy or audiophile and maybe these wouldn't pass that test, but for simple day to day music, they're everything I was hoping for. That they're only 100 dollars is crazy. If they were three times the price and I knew they'd be this good, I'd gladly have paid it. All you really need to know is that it's JBL, and this is the third incarnation of their creature line. Everything is refined and every problem solved. Highly recommended.

Purchased Creature Speakers for my husband's work computer 8 years ago. Loved them so much I bought a set for my computer. Had them a little over 7 years. We had some breakers blow at the office and it destroyed the subwoofer. So I looked around and ended up purchasing the same ones! I love them. The sound is GREAT! Love the new black color and design. Very easy to install. Best price for what you get. The one BIG draw back with this set is the wires are too short. Had to move the subwoofer up behind my monitor. It used to be on the floor.

I bought this item on Amazon for $67. For the price I paid, I think the value is decent. But I wouldn't pay more than that. These speakers can definitely fill a room with sound and the sound is decent. On the whole I am pleased with them, but the bass is disappointing. If bass is a big deal to you, get something else. If you just want a set of decent-sounding speakers that look really cool, these are worth considering.

I find that this speakers deliver as promised. While playing mp3, AAC, and any other audio file, the sound was clear as crystal. While listening to music videos on YouTube, the sound was not that clear as i could hear distortions coming out of the speakers. You do not need to crank the volume all the way up to have a nice sound environment. They are fairly capable of producing high enough sound that you can neatly listen to in a wide open space.

So I just got these in the mail today and took them out of the package and was almost really mad--they are so small! I thought there could be no way that these little things would be worth the $100 I just paid for them. But then once I hooked them up I was astonished! The quality and sound of them is fantastic and blows the $100 Altec Lansing set I had before. I quickly tried all sorts of music, from bass-heavy techno to screaming guitar metal and found that they remained quite crisp and clear for both, with heavy bass and full sound. Honestly, as they sit here on my desk the sound just fills the room and I don't know how the little things do it. Seriously, they are just three little cool looking things and somehow they are filling this whole room with sound. Now of course its not a high end system and I've seen things more powerful but for such a compact, cool looking, $100 system, I'd definitely say this is top notch.

I bought these speakers to give my laptop good kicking sound. The price is right for the sound and sheer coolness of the design speaks for itself. It's incredible that such crisp treble and kickin' bass is packed into a small speaker set. This is another reason that moved me to get these: they fitted my small home desk very neatly, although the base was a bit bigger than i expected.On the down side, the treble and bass controls are the inverse of what is printed in the base. Rotating the treble control towards the + sign actually decreases the treble. The same happens with the bass control. It's a minor annoyance but i would expect the people at JBL to get something as simple as this straight. Tech support was not helpful and their first response was a bit on the impolite side. The people at JBL say this counter-intuitively operation is actually the way they were designed. I ended up returning the first speaker set i got because whenever i moved the left speaker a little it would lose sound completely. Make sure to check yours thoroughly, because i got good support only from amazon.com but that will last only the first 30 days.I am satisfied with the speakers and really love the sound and design, so i'm more than happy to keep them. Unfortunately, impolite tech support, counter-intuitive operation and a wire soldered wrong do not speak very highly of JBL..

Just picked up Creature III's today. They are small. But desktop landscape can be precious. My desk is 5 foot wide. The cables for the sat speakers can be a challenge. But worked out OK for my setup. Subwoofer under my desk. Setup couldn't be easier. Now with the sub under my desk, access to treble and bass and on/off switch is impossible. Ditto with volume on right speaker. But I leave my sub on anyway. Set bass at 25% and treble at 50%. Maxed volume on Sat and use volume control on my desktop apps. Works great. Now the next step is crucial. I set the volume at about 85%. Then I went into my Realtek audio manager and used the manual equalizer to tweek the settings across the spectrum. With my Realtek I can have different settings for movies, music etc. But once I hit the sweet spot for music, it worked great with movies. After all this is not a surround system. So what your looking for is faithful audio reproduction. Finally, about the sub. This is a 2.1 computer speaker system. It will not replace a full blown home theater system. But if you use your equalizer to advantage, what you get for movie viewing is a wide sound stage and bass reproduction that is appropriate for desktop or laptop viewing. I am going to invest in a couple of cable extensions and try moving my SATs and SUB to maximum distances my office will allow. Will let you know in a few weeks how that worked out. By the way, my previous computer speaker system was a Klipsch Promedia GMX A 2.1 With out a doubt the Klipsch was AWESOME. What a sound stage and depth of projection. Further the audio fidelity across the spectrum was unrivaled in its price range. It would immerse you in the experience. But to be honest, to get the best out of that system required a level of volume that wasn't appropriate for my office during work hours. Now on weekends when I was alone and could crank it up.....WOW. And like others, my Klipsch cable and connections gave up the ghost. The point to this is, that audio experience with these Creature's is the next best thing. And $ 50 less to boot..
